
President John Day and his wife Joy attended the Downstate New York Annual Dinner in New York City on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. The Fellows-only dinner was held at the National Arts Club near Gramercy Park and drew approximately sixty Fellows. State Chair Sharon McCarthy organized the event and opened the evening with remarks, followed by Regent Richard Strassberg, who introduced President Day. President Day then spoke about several College initiatives, including the Cornerstone Project, the CORE Task Force, the Reputation Project, and the College’s recent public statements concerning rule of law issues. A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Leon Silverman Award to Alan Levine by Judge Jed Rakoff of the Southern District of New York. With members of his family in attendance, Levine spoke about his commitment to public service and continued civic engagement.
