Becoming a Fellow

The American College of Trial Lawyers strives to preserve and enhance trial practice, civility, professionalism, and the administration of Justice through support of an independent judiciary, the rule of law, trial by jury, and access to justice.

The College is an invitation-only Fellowship of exceptional trial lawyers from the United States and Canada who have demonstrated the very highest standards of trial advocacy, ethical conduct, integrity, professionalism, and collegiality.

One cannot apply for membership, and candidates for Fellowship are identified through a confidential process. Once a lawyer has been approved for Fellowship, they will be notified and asked to attend an upcoming meeting for formal induction into the College.

Once inducted, Fellows are encouraged to stay involved in the College. Opportunities for involvement include service on a committee, judging a regional round of one of our sponsored trial or moot competitions, and attendance at local, regional and national meetings.

If you are a lawyer who has been invited to become a Fellow in the College, you can learn more on our Inductees page.
