On May 17, President Deane attended the D.C. and Maryland Fellows Dinner, at the Williams & Connolly offices on the newly developed D.C. Wharf. State Chair Steve Raber presided over the evening, hosted at his firm. Immediate Past President Bill Murphy, together with Regent Greg Wells and Maryland State Chair Andy Jezic, were in attendance, among 100 Fellows and guests. President Deane offered remarks regarding how the College is needed now, perhaps more than ever. Attacks on the Rule of Law and the Independence of the Judiciary undermine fundamental College tenets. Yet there is a tension in striking the right balance whether to speak out. The Executive Committee grapples with these issues. President Deane also highlighted outstanding future programming planned by President-Elect Day and noted the upcoming meeting celebrating the College’s 75th Anniversary.
