William E. Galeota is a native of Morgantown, WV, where he grew up and attended public schools. Bill completed his studies and graduated from West Virginia University with a bachelors degree in Business Administration (Industrial Management) in 1975, while employed in the transportation industry. He worked in that private employment until he returned to the WVU College of Law, where he received the Outstanding Contribution award of the WV Law Review in 1982, and graduated Order of the Coif in 1983. During undergraduate and law school, Bill served in the US Army and the US Army Reserve, entering in 1971 and honorably discharged in 1981 at the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served an internship at Steptoe & Johnson continuously from May of 1980 through graduation in May of 1983, when he became an Associate with the same firm, and he became a Member of the firm in 1989. Focusing his practice on litigation from the beginning, Bill has defended hundreds of physicians and other health care professionals, hospitals and other health care facilities, through claims, suits, mediations, trials and appeals. He provides representation in risk management and self insurance programs for a number of hospitals and facilities, and is listed as approved panel counsel with several health care professional liability insurers. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor in Trial Advocacy at the WVU College of Law
Bill Galeota is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a Member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, and AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He is listed in the Chambers USA publication Americas Leading Lawyers for Business, in The Best Lawyers in America, and in Super Lawyers. He has served as a Member of the Board of Governors of the West Virginia State Bar, and is a Past President of Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia. He is admitted to practice in West Virginia; the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia; the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania; the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals; The United States Court of Federal Claims; and the United States Supreme Court.
