Michael W. Lacy

Michael is a criminal defence attorney who has practiced at all levels of court in Ontario appearing on more than 150 appeals at the Court of Appeal for Ontario. He has also argued appeals at the Supreme Court of Canada for primary litigants and appeared as intervention counsel for the Criminal Lawyers Association and the Canadian Civil Liberties Association.

He is an invited advocacy adviser registered with the Supreme Court Advocacy institute where he provides pro bono advice and critique to counsel appearing at the Supreme Court of Canada during mock advocacy sessions. In addition to his practice throughout Ontario, Michael has also appeared as counsel in proceedings in Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Quebec, and Saskatchewan. He is also a member of the Pro Bono Inmate Appeal Program in Ontario, which assists self-represented appellants appearing before the Court of Appeal for Ontario: Pro Bono Inmate Appeal Program – Pro Bono Inmate Appeal Program.
