Matthew T. Martens

Matt is one of the few attorneys who have successfully appearedand won at trial at all four tables: civil plaintiff, civil defendant, criminal prosecution, and criminal defendant. Over the course of his career, he has tried cases spanning a remarkable array of subject matters, including securities fraud, patent infringement, consumer fraud, murder, employment law, and money laundering, with billions of dollars at stake.

Before entering private practice, Matt spent about fourteen years in government service, including as Chief Litigation Counsel for the SECs Division of Enforcement, as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, and as a law clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist.
