L. Earl Ogletree has 27 years of experience as a trial lawyer in The State of Oklahoma. On September 1, 2025, he resigned as Senior and Managing Partner of Wiggins Sewell and Ogletree to begin his new journey of building a law firm with well qualified staff and attorneys who are all capable of litigating all aspects of complex cases in all courts in our state.
Mr. Ogletree was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and attended Valdosta State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1995. He then attended Oklahoma City University School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor in 1999, and was admitted to the Oklahoma bar that same year.
Mr. Ogletree has tried numerous catastrophic injury cases in all areas of tort litigation, with special emphasis on medical and dental malpractice defense. He also specializes in Federal Motor Carrier (trucking) litigation and has had the opportunity to represent both trucking companies and injured persons in civil litigation. Additionally, he has actively litigated multiple tortious breach of contract, fraud, product liability, and wrongful employment termination cases. Among his achievements, Mr. Ogletree has been selected by his peers to the Oklahoma Super Lawyers each year from 2006 to present. Mr. Ogletree has been rated by his peers as a Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Lawyer. From 2008 to present, he has been recognized for excellence in civil litigation and medical malpractice defense by Oklahoma Magazines Super Lawyers Section with the Top Attorneys in Oklahoma award. Most recently, in 2016, Mr. Ogletree was honored by his peers, clients, and trade groups as the Best of the Best by Americas Most Honored Professionals.
Mr. Ogletree is a Fellow of the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers and is board-certified with the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys. He is admitted to practice before, and has litigated in, Oklahoma state and federal courts, 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. He is an active member of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel, the American Board of Trial Advocates, the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys, the Oklahoma Association of Defense Counsel, the Oklahoma Bar Association, the Oklahoma County Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, and is a frequent speaker to medical groups on topics related to healthcare law.
Mr. Ogletree resides on a cattle farm in Cashion with his amazing wife.
