Hussein Aly is one of the most successful trial lawyers in Canada. He has argued cases at the Supreme Court of Canada, the Ontario Court of Appeal, and the Ontario Superior and Provincial Courts.

His trial success led to his induction into the American College of Trial Lawyers the most prominent invitation-only Fellowship conferred on trial lawyers in North America. Hussein has been recognized by the Law Society of Ontario as a Certified Specialist in Criminal Law. He was also included in Best Lawyers as one of the top criminal defence lawyers in Toronto. Earlier in his career, Hussein was named as one of Lexperts Rising Star as one of Canadas leading lawyers under 40.

Husseins reputation as an elite criminal defence lawyer led to him being elected by his fellow criminal lawyers, in 2021, to serve on the Board of Directors of the Criminal Lawyers Association. Hussein subsequently served as Vice President of the Criminal Lawyers Association in 2022.

Hussein is also a lifelong student of the law. He is the author of Wrenches for the Trenches, a column in For the Defence, a magazine published by the Criminal Lawyers Association. The column discusses legal issues that occur in the day-to-day practice of criminal law. Hussein also guest lectures at Osgoode Hall Law School and Toronto Metropolitan University Law School on criminal procedure, particularly on the topic of search warrants.
