Gloria obtained her law degree from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and was called to the British Columbia bar in 2009.
Gloria has represented clients facing the most serious of criminal charges such as murder, manslaughter, drug trafficking, kidnapping and unlawful confinement to charges like fraud, assault, and mischief. No matter the seriousness of the charge, Gloria represents every client with the same level of advocacy and determination.
Gloria has considerable experience assisting clients at the outset of a criminal matter by providing clients with immediate legal advice upon arrest and successfully securing their release to bail. As part of her trial practice, Gloria regularly mounts constitutional challenges in areas such as: Search and Seizure, Unlawful Arrest and Detention, Right to Counsel and Right to Silence. Gloria also has extensive experience in challenging the evidence of informant and cooperating Crown witnesses as well as challenging technological evidence (cellular and computer data).
Gloria is also often retained to represent complainants in sexual assault cases when applications concerning a complainants privacy and dignity are engaged. As complainants counsel, Gloria ensures that the complainant has a voice to advocate on their behalf before the Court.
Gloria has also represented victims outside of the court system with consultative advice on what to expect after filing a police report, the intricacies of the criminal justice system, as well as assisting deceased victims and their families at Coroners Inquests.
Gloria has appeared in all levels of court in British Columbia as well as in the Supreme Court of Canada.
Gloria is the President of the Criminal Defence Advocacy Society in British Columbia (CDAS), a member of the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (FACLBC), and the Association of Legal Aid Lawyers (ALL).
