Don McKinney is a partner at Adams and Reese in New Orleans where his litigation practice is focused on the defense of cases involving professional liability, product liability (including pharmaceuticals and medical devices), toxic exposure, and other general and commercial litigation. He also represents various professionals, including lawyers and nurses, in matters before licensing boards. His clients include Ochsner Health System and the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.

Don is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and Louisiana Super Lawyers. He is a member of Ochsner Clinic Foundations Institutional Review Board and has served as a hearing committee member for the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board. At his firm, Mr. McKinney serves as Loss Prevention Partner and Assistant Claims Counsel, which leads to his involvement in complex ethics and conflict of interest issues for the firms lawyers and clients.

Mr. McKinney received his B.A. degree in Religion and Philosophy with distinction from Hendrix College in Arkansas, and completed M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Ethics at Vanderbilt University. He received his J.D. degree with Honors from the William Bowen School of Law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Mr. McKinney is frequently asked to speak to lawyers, physicians, nurses and other professionals on ethics, professionalism, and liability issues.
