SHORT LEGAL RESUME OF BILL WAGNER
Bill Wagner is a founder of the Tampa, Florida, law firm of Wagner McLaughlin. He is mostly retired from active practice but continues active service to the firm as needed. Almost from the start of his practice, he served almost exclusively as a civil trial practice attorney for individual claimants and their families.
He is a member of The Florida Bar and has served on its Board of Governors. He actively serves as an Emeritus Member of the Florida Board of Bar Examiners. He is an elected member of the American Law Institute and currently serves as an Emeritus member of its governing Council. He is certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and was for 30 years recognized as a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer by The Florida Bar. He was also Board Certified as an Aviation Lawyer by the Florida Bar and served on the original Aviation Law Certification Committee. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and a Diplomat of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
In the past, he served as a member of the Florida Supreme Court’s Committee on Standard Civil Jury Instructions. He served on the Professional Ethics Committee of The Florida Bar. He served as an Advisor for the Restatement of the Law of Torts III: Products Liability, and served as an Advisor for the Restatement of the Law of Torts III: Apportionment of Liability. .
He is a Past President and current member of the American Association for Justice (Formerly ATLA, The Association of Trial Lawyers of America). He is a member of the Florida Justice Association (Formerly the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers) served as a Director for 16 years, and as its President. He is a current member of and a Founder of and served on the Board of Directors of Trial Lawyers for Public Justice (Now known as Public Citizen). He is currently an international member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) in Great Britain, and a current member of the Pan-European Organization of Personal Injury Lawyers (PEOPIL). He is an active member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association and the Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers Association.
He was born on April 13, 1933 and has three adult sons; Alan Frederick, Darryl William and Thomas Adam. He currently has six grandchildren.
