On May 28, President Deane traveled to Montréal for the Quebec Fellows Dinner. The trip was made a day in advance so that President Deane could be interviewed at a meeting of the UK-based Commercial Bar Association, which represents barristers specializing in commercial and international law. Their interests are similar to those of the College, and the fireside chat interview by COMBAR Chair, Alex Gunning, led President Deane to conclude the organizations are kindred spirits. The Quebec Fellows Dinner took place at The Mount Royal Club. Province Chair Sophie Perrault introduced President Deane, who spoke about various College projects, including the strategic planning efforts, along with recent statements in defense of the Rule of Law and supporting an independent judiciary. The keynote speaker was Yves Boisvert, a reporter and one of the most renowned legal columnists in Quebec. Boisvert spoke on political events occurring in the United States and Canada. The Quebec Fellows remain strongly supportive of the College and the stance it has taken on Rule of Law issues.
