On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, President-Elect John Day drove to Lexington, Kentucky to attend the Kentucky Fellows Dinner, which was held in conjunction with the Kentucky State Bar Association meeting. The event was at Dudley’s on Short and organized by State Chair Brad Case. Regent Cheryl Bush was in attendance, along with State Vice Chair Lou Anna Red Corn. In all, approximately thirty-five Fellows and spouses were present at the dinner. State Chair Case gave brief introductory remarks and thanked Regent Bush, whose term as Regent ends in October. Regent Bush gave brief remarks about enjoying her service as a Regent and working with the people in Kentucky in particular. President-Elect Day then delivered brief remarks, including a tribute to the late Fellow Bill Garmer, who was a personal friend and legendary Lexington lawyer. He then discussed the upcoming Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., the work of the Executive Committee and the Judicial Independence Committee regarding recent issues. The Fellows in attendance were also interested in learning more about the process by which the College decides to speak out or issue statements on current issues regarding the Rule of Law.
