Virginia C. Nelson specialized in personal injury and medical negligence cases for over thirty years, recovering 9 figures in verdicts, awards and settlements for her clients. She is a former President of the San Diego County Bar Association, San Diego Inn of Court and the Enright American Inn of Court. Ms. Nelson is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, and a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. She has been listed in Best Lawyers of America for 24 years, and was selected America’s Finest City Legal Professional of the Year.

She is a Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient from the University of San Diego School of Law, as well as the Author E. Hughes Career Achievement Award recipient from the University of San Diego in 2011. Currently she is the Vice-Chair of the Leading Change Campaign for the Law School.

She has also received the Witkin Award for excellence in the teaching, practice, enactment and adjudication of the law, and the Broderick Award for civility, integrity and professionalism. From 2007-2017, she has been chosen as one of the Top 10 Southern California Super Lawyers-San Diego. Now, as an Adjunct Professor at the University of San Diego School of Law, she teaches the IL Small Group Practicum for Litigation, Civil Practicum, Negotiation and California Civil Discovery Practice.
