Judith (Judy) Susskind is one of Michigans most respected and successful trial attorneys in the areas of medical malpractice and personal injury.

For more than 35 years, Judy has successfully pursued medical malpractice lawsuits, obtaining very favorable outcomes for her clients. In 2002, she won a record-breaking three medical malpractice trials in less than 11 weeks.In 2004, Michigan Lawyers Weekly named Judy Lawyer of the Year, an honor based on peer recognition for being the winning-est plaintiff’s lawyer in the state. She has since received several other honors and awards for being recognized as a leader in the law, and a strong advocate for her clients.

Judy has been included on the list of Michigan Super Lawyers every year since its inception, and has been named, multiple times, to their “Top 10” list. She has also been recognized by Best Lawyers in America for many years, receiving Lawyer of the Year honors on multiple occasions. She has been a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates since 2016, and served as the Michigan ABOTA Chapter President in 2022-2023. She received the coveted “Civility Award” from the Michigan Chapter of ABOTA in 2022.

Judy has served for many years on the Michgan State Committee for ACTL, and served as Chair of her State Committee in 2024-2026.

Judy gives back to the legal profession and the community in many ways. She sits on the Executive Board of the Michigan Association for Justice (previously known as the Michigan Trial Lawyers Association) and served as the organizations president in 2008-2009. She has served as co-moderator of MAJ’s annual Medical Malpraqctice Seminar for over 20 years. She served as the Chairperson of the Negligence Section of the State bar in 2003-2004. Judy previously served on the State Bar’s Judicial Qualifications Committee, and she currently serves on the Federal Judicial Advisory Committee. In 2020, Judy received the State Bar Negligence Section’s most prestigious award – the Earl Cline and Sherwin Schreier Award of Excellence.

Judy takes pride in serving as a mentor to many young lawyers. She has been named as a “Go-to lawyer” for medical malpractice and personal injury cases. She has spoken at many seminars and she has substiute taught numerous law school classes. She serves on the faculty of the Wayne State Medical School, teaching a class on the Law and Medicine.
