I have practiced law in Chattanooga, Tennessee for 24 years. I started my practice on the defense side, focusing on employment law and working with a number of excellent mentors at Witt, Gaither & Whitaker. That law firm experience a split in 2006 and I shifted to a plaintiff-focused employment law firm, Burnette, Dobson & Pinchak. It was at that firm when I learned practice from the plaintiff’s side and learned how to try a case, working together with excellent trial lawyers. In 2019, I co-founded Mikel & Hamill, which also focuses on representing primarily individuals in employment law disputes. At M&H, I also represent business and non-profit clients, offer one-time or short-term consults, and have developed a thriving mediation practice. I recently began working as an arbitrator and am now also included on the AAA employment panel of arbitrators. One common thread has run through my varied practice experience– a love for the practice of litigation, satisfaction from helping people, and a deep appreciation for our American justice system. Our justice system is best served by lawyers who are ready, willing, and able to try (win or lose) cases when they cannot be otherwise resolved. It has been my great pleasure to enjoy several significant verdicts that I helped to achieve and it has been a humbling and growing experience to likewise experience the losing side of our jury system.
