David F. Abernethy is a trial lawyer with years of experience defending products liability and commercial cases. His recent trial experience consists mainly of the defense of products liability cases involving pharmaceutical products and medical devices. Over the course of more than three decades in private practice, David has prepared and tried cases involving contract and commercial disputes, consumer class actions, insurance coverage disputes relating to general, directors and officers and professional liability policies, and civil rights cases. Davids extensive trial experience includes numerous jury trials in state and federal courts around the United States, as well as a number of complex arbitration proceedings. David also has extensive appellate experience in state and federal courts, in asbestos and other products liability cases, as well as in insurance coverage cases. David served for more than 10 years as the pro bono partner at Drinker Biddle & Reath and continues to serve as a member of its pro bono committee. Before returning to private practice in 1986, David served for nearly four years as a judge advocate officer in the United States Army, handling civilian labor and military administrative proceedings and serving for more than two years as a prosecuting attorney in dozens of court-martial proceedings. He graduated summa cum laude from Syracuse University (1980) and the Syracuse University College of Law (1982).
