Committees

Each summer the incoming President and President-Elect make appointments for the upcoming term, which begins at the conclusion of the Annual Meeting (usually late September). Fellows may request an appointment by filling out this form or by contacting the National Office. Occasionally, mid-term appointments are made at the discretion of the committee's Regent Liaison and the appointing officer.

Committee members are appointed for one year at a time, with terms beginning and ending to coincide with the Annual Meeting. Committee members generally serve no more than five years, and Chairs and Vice Chairs typically serve two years in each role.

The time commitment varies by committee. It might be a few hours every few months, or it could be several hours each month. Some committees work intensively over the same few months each year and are relatively dormant the rest of the year. Members of a State or Province Committee are primarily engaged in activities related to the candidate nomination process. The responsibilities of a General Committee member are guided by that committee's mandate.
