Distinguished speakers include:
Hon. Michael Golden, former Wyoming Supreme Court Chief Justice and Hon. Michael J. Sullivan Wyoming’s 29th Governor and former ambassador to Ireland, with a timely conversation about the Rule of Law. They will each speak from their considerable experience from the three branches of government. After that, they will be joined by three federal judges in a panel exploring the immediate constitutional challenges we face in the United States today.
Author Samuel Western who recently released Spirit of 1889, will discuss big-picture economic and legal trends in the West.
Intersection of science and the law panel: As we are convening in Teton National Park immediately south of Yellowstone National Park, we will be considering the unique wildlife issues of the nation’s first national park. Several wildlife experts and former judges will engage in candid discourse about the intersection of science and the law, discussing the effect of the Endangered Species Act and other federal and state legislation on the reintroduction of wolves to Yellowstone and the recovery and protection of the grizzly bear. Panel includes:
- Angus Thuermer, Jr., renowned natural resources reporter and author
- Dr. Christopher Servheen (who headed grizzly recovery for the US Fish and Wildlife Service for 35 years)
- Dr. Douglas Smith (who oversaw wolf management in Yellowstone for two decades). Also contributing to the conversation are the jurists who directly participated in wolf reintroduction litigation 30 years ago.
