In mid-August, President Deane travelled to Des Moines, Iowa, to attend the Iowa Fellows Summer meeting and dinner. After delivering preliminary remarks at the Saturday morning business meeting, President Deane joined the Iowa Fellows, as well as Regent Rob Adams and State Chair William Graham, for a leisurely lunch. That evening, the Iowa Fellows convened for dinner at a venue near Pappajohn Sculpture Park, an eclectic collection of 24 huge outdoor sculptures donated to the city by venture capitalist John Pappajohn and his wife. President Deane delivered remarks at the dinner, including explaining the College’s messaging in defending the Rule of Law and an independent judiciary.
