Welcome and thank you for visiting the American College of
Trial Lawyers’ website. Here, you will learn more about the
College, its Fellows and their activities.
It is my distinct honor to serve as the 58th President of our
College. We have the most distinguished and accomplished trial
lawyers in North America within our ranks. Our Fellows remain committed
to improving the standards of trial practice and the ethics within our
profession. We are dedicated to the fundamental concept of
independent judiciaries in our countries and meaningful access to
justice for our citizens. We will also be increasing our efforts to
understand and overcome the burdens of unreasonable discovery on civil
litigants, the judiciary and trials.
Many Fellows are already working on our General, State and Province
Committees to ensure that the traditional commitments of our College
continue to be met. Our publications, competitions, awards and
teaching efforts are second to none and will continue to be so.
Most important to me and, I believe, to our Fellows, is maintaining the
unique fellowship we enjoy when together. Our national, regional
and local gatherings all promote and reflect our friendships. I
will guard this fellowship carefully, as it is the glue that binds
us.
Over the next year, Marcy and I will be visiting our states and
provinces, gathering again with old friends and meeting new ones.
We are grateful for these upcoming opportunities to be together and will
welcome being in the company of Fellows, their spouses and friends.
