TO THE FELLOWS OF THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF TRIAL LAWYERS:

Marcy and I would like to invite you to the 59th Spring Meeting of the American College of Trial Lawyers at El Conquistador Resort and Golden Door Spa in Puerto Rico, beginning on Thursday, February 26, 2009 through Sunday, March 1, 2009.  The El Conquistador is a welcoming and unique Caribbean resort property whose beauty will be peaking during that time of year.

Our Opening Reception on Thursday evening, February 26 will be held atop a hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean at El Conquistador’s Main Pool and Trellis.  There you will be able to reunite with Fellows and their spouses or guests from the U.S., Canada, and especially from your Region, as well as make new friends – a cherished College characteristic.

President-Elect Joan A. Lukey has planned an outstanding professional program featuring a panel on “Constitutional Rights v. Spousal or Child Abuse: The FLDS El Dorado Controversy” CLE (1 hour, “Ethics”).  Topics such as “Environmental Responsibilities of the Business and Legal Communities,” and “Doing Well by Doing Good: Why Clients Seek Diversity in Their Law Firms” also will be presented.

On Friday night, we will experience a sampling of the sights, sounds, foods, and music of the Caribbean.  This “Caribbean Nights” event will be held on a private island right off the coast where you can dine, dance, and relax in the company of your new and old friends.

The induction of new Fellows on Saturday night remains the traditional highlight of our meeting.  This black tie Induction Ceremony and Spring Banquet will be celebrated at the Resort’s Caribbean Ballroom.  Attendance is limited to registered Fellows, Inductees, and their spouses or guests.

Friday and Saturday afternoons offer many activities and tours to highlight the unique areas and experiences of Puerto Rico.  Details can be found in the Optional Tours Section of your brochure.  We hope you can take advantage of our post-tour to Old San Juan, where you will experience a whole different face of Puerto Rico, and witness almost 500 years of colonial and post-colonial history.  The post tour dates are Sunday, March 1, 2009 through Wednesday, March 4, 2009.  Space is limited, so please register early.

Registration may be accomplished online at www.actl.com/PuertoRico, by mail to the National Office, or by fax to (949) 752-1674.  If paying by credit card, please provide your credit card information, including expiration date, or include your check with the completed registration form found in the meeting brochure.  As always, please contact any member of our College staff with questions.

We look forward to seeing you in Puerto Rico.

Sincerely,
