TO THE FELLOWS OF THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF TRIAL
LAWYERS
LeAnn and I invite you to attend the 58th Annual Meeting
of the American College of Trial Lawyers at the Sheraton Centre Toronto
in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, beginning Thursday, September 25 through
Saturday, September 27, 2008.
President-Elect Jack Dalton has planned an outstanding
professional program. A list of our speakers is provided on the next
page.
We are pleased to announce we will be presenting two
Honorary Fellowships during our Annual Meeting. This year’s
recipients include the Honourable Marshall E. Rothstein of the Supreme
Court of Canada and the Honorable Samuel A. Alito, Jr. of The Supreme
Court of the United States. These two presentations will complete the
induction of all justices of the Supreme Court of Canada and The Supreme
Court of the United States.
Our Opening Reception will be held from 6:30 p.m. to
8:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 25 at the historic Osgoode Hall,
located across the street from the Sheraton Centre Toronto. As the
primary focus of Ontario’s legal activity for over 170 years,
Osgoode Hall is the venue of the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Superior
Court of Justice and the Law Society of Upper Canada. Following Thursday
evening’s reception, Fellows and their spouses and guests are
encouraged to explore various dining options and to discover
Toronto.
On Friday night, we will be treated to a sampling of the
foods and culture of the various Canadian provinces. Traditional sights,
sounds and tastes of the country’s diverse backgrounds will be
recreated as we enjoy the camaraderie of our Fellows.
On Saturday night, the Annual Banquet will be held at
the Sheraton Centre Toronto. Attendance is limited to registered
Fellows, Inductees, and their spouses or guests. The induction of new
Fellows is the traditional highlight of the evening.
Following the professional programs on Friday and
Saturday, many activities and tours will be available to highlight the
“best of Toronto.” Details can be found in the Optional
Tours Section of your brochure. We hope you can take advantage of our
post-tour to Niagara-on-the-Lake from Sunday, September 28 to Wednesday,
October 1, 2008. Enjoy the surrounding wine country and a trip to the
Shaw Festival in Ontario’s “loveliest town.” Space is
limited, so register early.
Registration may be accomplished online at www.actl.com,
by mail to the National Office, or by fax to (949) 752-1674. If paying
by credit card, please provide your credit card information, including
expiration date, or include your check with the completed registration
